Chinese Premier to Attend ASEAN Summit in Cambodia

PHNOM PENH: Chinese Premier, Li Keqiang, will attend the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Phnom Penh next week, according to the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia.

“The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Kingdom of Cambodia presents its compliments to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia and has the honor to inform and request the latter on the following press arrangements with regard to the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Li Keqiang from 8 to 13 November,” the Embassy added.

Details of the Chinese Premier’s schedule during his stay in Cambodia have not yet been released, but Prime Minister Hun Sen has also confirmed that Premier Li Keqiang will be paying an official visit to Cambodia for the ASEAN Summit.

“I will hold bilateral talks with Premier Li Keqiang on the afternoon of 9 November,” the Prime Minister stated while speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Royal University of Law and Economics on Tuesday morning, 1 November.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has said the Chinese Premier will be one of the heads of state or government paying an official visit to Cambodia prior to the ASEAN Summit, including the Prime Minister of Vietnam, the Sultan of Brunei, and more.

The ASEAN Summit will be held from 10-13 November in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
